Shiatsu is based on the same principles as acupuncture, however instead of needles, the therapist uses touch, pressure, stretching and support to help the patient feel more balanced and revitalized.
Shiatsu is administered through clothing making it a very accessible form of therapy.
The following is part 1 of a short documentary film about Shiatsu in hospitals, gives a clear sense of the scope of practice of this effective and adaptable therapeutic approach and how Shiatsu and conventional medicine can work together.
See ” Media” for Part 2 and more.
As a living tradition Shiatsu continues to evolve.
